Let’s take a look at the Best Disney movies since 1986… According to Rotten Tomatoes. For those of you who don’t know, Rotten Tomatoes is a website where movies are ranking by critics and audiences alike using their “Tomatometer” ranking system. Movies that are 59% or less fall into the “Rotten” category which means they are bad, while movies with a 75% or higher “Certified Fresh” which means they are great!

Fortunately for us this list only includes “Certified Fresh” movies, some of which are the most expensive Disney movies ever made! With that said, let’s start in ascending order from lowest to highest.

Best Disney Movies Since 1986

Disney

Tarzan (1999)
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 88%
One of my childhood favorites as I was transitioning into the pre-teen stages is Tarzan. According to Oh My Disney, it took animators almost three years to come up with the opening scene. Surprising as it may seem, this is the lowest ranked of our list, but 88% about of 100% is not bad by all means.

Best Disney Movies According to Rotton Tomatoes

Disney

Bolt (2008)
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 89%
Bolt is definitely a fun movie, the animators actually adopted a hamster to use as a model for the character Rhino.

Disney

Tangled (2010)
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 89%
Tangled was actually Disney’s 50th animated feature, and their first ever fully computer-animated fairy tale picture. Will we ever see another classic animation is Disney’s future, or will everything remain CGI?

Big Hero Six Disneys First Animator Hero Movie

Disney

Big Hero 6 (2014)
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 89%
As interesting as it may seem, this is Disney Animation’s first full fledged super hero movie made with the help of Marvel (which Disney owns). You may be thinking to yourself, “well wait a second skippy boy… What about The Incredibles?!” The Incredibles was produced by Pixar Animation Studio, and released by Walt Disney Pictures making.

Aladdin (1992)
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 94%
OKAY. This seriously one of my all time favorite Disney movies… Just so happens that I get Aladdin every single time I find out which Disney Character I am when I take the character test at California Adventure Park in Disneyland. Fun fact! Robbin Williams was allowed to do a bunch of improv during the making of this movie. A majority of his scenes that were selected we’re unscripted… EPIC am I right?

Moana (2016)
Rotten Tomatoes Score: 98%
Yes, of course Disney’s latest blockbuster hit tops this list! Here’s my favorite song… Just FYI during the “tattoo scene” there’s an easter egg of Flounder from The Little Mermaid hidden in the fish. Fun fact the same technology they used for Pixar’s short “Paperman” was used to create this entire scene. It utilizes hand drawn animation and CGI seamlessly.

And Best Disney Movie According to Rotten Tomatoes is…

Zootopia (2016)
Rotten Tomato Score: 98%
Here’s a pretty hilarious scene from Zoopia… WARNING this moment is extremely cringe worthy LOL.
